On March 2, 1963, 350 people fi lled the Montreal

Botanical Gardens Auditorium for the release of the
new French edition of Alcoholics Anonymous. Joe C.,
one of the translators, presented Eve M., a G.S.O. staff
member from New York, with a copy of the book for

A.A.’s living cofounder, Bill W. The book had been
printed with the fi nancial help of A.A. World Services,

Inc. and was also distributed in France, Italy, Belgium
           and Switzerland.
In 2013, the French Big Book commemorated the

50th anniversary of its fi rst edition, with special stickers
affi xed to the book jackets, which were then distribut-

ed throughout French-speaking Canada and the Unit-
ed States. The fourth edition (fi rst printed in 2003) is
           currently in its eighth printing.
